Let’s not forget about the power of continuing your self care at a time when we truly need it, those things that make you feel great.
Before I jump into what to do to mitigate stress, let’s start off with what NOT to do
1) Have your eyes locked on news ALL day
2) Discount the importance of sleep since you are home all day
3) Go overboard on your DIET, strictly counting calories in and out
4) Training yourself into the ground as punishment
A few things have been really helping me to get through this trying times:
1) Daily walks of 10+ minutes outside in the fresh air
2) Deep breathing and meditating morning and evening
3) Reading up to 10 minutes minimum per day
4) Unplugging earlier at night
The above are some simple lifestyle tips, but what about training?
Training is a little different now since we are facing equipment and facility limitations. NOW more then EVER training should be a Tool to make your life better. The workout during our time in isolation is MAINTENANCE. Not only of training, but of physique, movement patterns and Mentality.
Here’s a list of modifications that I’ve made to my Personal Training clients keeping in mind the challenges of today
1) Emphasizing warm ups and self maintenance (active release)
2) Reducing training intensity (limited equipment)
3) Increasing pace by reducing rest periods
4) Increasiy frequency of training to almost daily
Results matter but your wellbeing and feeling good is your top priority right now.
